Path Finder 26.1.10

Product updates · Path Finder

This update brings substantial stability improvements to List View, along with fixes for file renaming, drag-and-drop, and tag handling.

More reliable List View

We've addressed several issues affecting how List View displays and updates files and folders.

  • Fixed display glitches, garbled filenames, and crashes that could occur when folder contents changed.
  • Improved folder expansion and collapse behavior, including preventing crashes caused by circular aliases.
  • Fixed drag-and-drop folder selection and highlighting.

Safer and easier file renaming

Renaming files is now more predictable, especially when working quickly with multiple items.

  • Use Tab and Shift-Tab to move directly to the next or previous filename while renaming in Icon or List View.
  • Fixed editing of long filenames that span multiple lines.
  • Prevented unexpected renaming when switching selections, opening contextual menus, or cancelling a drag.
  • Disabled conflicting file operations during renaming to prevent unintended moves or deletions.
  • Fixed an issue that could leave a stray filename-editing window onscreen.

Improved drag-and-drop and file operations

  • Fixed copying files within the same folder using Option-drag.
  • Fixed spring-loaded folder navigation in Column View.
  • Fixed restoring the original location after cancelling a drag in all three browser views.
  • Improved selection handling when moving files to Trash or deleting them through contextual menus.
  • Fixed interference between double-click settings and dragging in List View.

Better tag handling

  • Tags now synchronize automatically and immediately between Path Finder, Finder, and other compatible applications.
  • Fixed issues with recognizing newly created or assigned tags.
  • Fixed cancelling tag editing with Esc, even before entering text.

Additional improvements

  • Added Delete as an assignable command shortcut in Icon View.
  • Improved the availability of Synchronize Folders based on the selected folders.
  • Fixed selection highlighting in inactive Icon View windows and panes.
  • Made minor interface and compatibility fixes for macOS 27 Golden Gate.
